Hi, I’m Mike Pacer, a one‑man band, entertainer, DJ, singer, and musician serving New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

I call what I do an “Orchestra of ONE” because I blend live vocals, live instruments, and professional DJ services into one seamless show that’s all about you and your guests.

Whether I’m in an assisted living community or at a private party, my goal is simple: you walk out happier than when you walked in.

Whether I’m in an assisted living community or at a private party, my goal is simple: you walk out happier than when you walked in.

Music has been the thread running through my entire life. I taught high school music for 35 years, spending my days helping kids discover their own love of music and building confidence through performance. Now, I take everything I’ve learned from decades of teaching, performing, and playing in bands and pour it into every show I do as your entertainer, DJ, and musician.

Why I Do What I Do

I don’t really think of this as a job – I honestly feel like I was born to do this. When I pack up my gear after a show and head home to my wife, I often say, “I was born to do this,” because that’s how it feels when I see people smiling, singing along, and remembering some of the best times of their lives.

For me, music is joy, comfort, and memory all wrapped into one.

  • Music gives people a place to land when the world feels like it’s changing too fast.
  • It creates a little “musical bubble” where, for a few hours, the outside world doesn’t get a vote.
  • A song can instantly take you back to being 17 with your friends, or to your wedding day, or to dancing in the kitchen with someone you love.

That’s what drives me as a performer, DJ, and musician: giving that joy back to you and your guests, and watching those memories light up a room.

Assisted Living Entertainment: “We’re Never Too Old to Party”

Some of the closest‑to‑my‑heart shows I do are in assisted living and retirement communities across New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. I don’t even call these gigs “work” – I think of them as my calling.

When I walk into a senior living community:

  • I bring a show that’s built around songs your residents know and love. If they don’t recognize the tune, it doesn’t work.
  • I focus on the music of their era: rock and roll, classic standards, and the songs that defined their younger years.
  • I mix DJ tracks with live vocals and live horns, as well as some story-telling and joking around, so it feels like a real show, not just background noise.

The residents are usually completely tuned in, they’re watching, listening, and waiting for that song that brings them back. Sometimes they start singing along, and you see that little glint in their eye, like a spark of their younger selves coming right back to the surface. Those are the moments that sometimes bring me to tears, because that’s exactly why I do this. You’ll see:

  • People who haven’t danced in years getting up with or without walkers, moving as much as they can.
  • Rock‑and‑roll Baby Boomers proudly reliving the 1960s and 70s.
  • A room that feels lighter and happier than it did an hour before.

As your entertainer, DJ, and musician in this setting, I’m there to:

  • Respect your residents’ energy and attention.
  • Choose songs that are familiar, uplifting, and appropriate.
  • Leave them happier and more energized than when they sat down.

If you manage an assisted living or retirement community in New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania and you want engaging, age‑appropriate entertainment that your residents will genuinely look forward to, that’s exactly what I bring as an “Orchestra of ONE.”

The "Orchestra of ONE" experience: You're not just getting a DJ pressing play; you're getting live vocals, live horns, stories, and interaction woven into a professional DJ setup.

Private Parties: Relaxed, Fun, and Built Around You

I also specialize in private parties for adults, birthday parties, anniversaries, holiday parties, winery events, and celebrations for folks typically in their 60s, 70s, and beyond. I’m not your typical wedding or Bar/Bat Mitzvah DJ; I focus on intimate, meaningful events where conversation, connection, and great music all matter equally.

When you bring me in as your DJ, musician, and singer for a private event, here’s what you can expect:

I Start by Listening to You

Before your party, I ask you to share a playlist or list of songs you’d love to hear.

  • That gives me a window into your favorite eras and genres.
  • From there, I build a musical experience that works not only for you, but for your guests as well.

With today’s technology, I can pull up an enormous library of music across eras and styles. At your event, I even hand out song request cards so your guests can ask for songs they love; if they can spell it, I can probably find it on my DJ deck.

The Right Music at the Right Time

A great entertainer and DJ doesn’t just play songs, he reads the room. That’s one of my biggest strengths.

Here’s how a typical party flows when you hire me:

  • Arrival & mingling: When guests are greeting each other and catching up, the music stays in the background so they can comfortably talk without shouting.
  • Building energy: As the evening goes on, I gradually bring in live horns, vocals, and more upbeat tracks.
  • Live performance moments: This is where I become more than just a DJ. I’m on the mic, on my instruments, and engaging with your guests right at their tables if the moment calls for it.
  • Dancing & sing‑alongs: Once people are ready to move, I bring up the energy and volume so they can dance, sing, and really let loose.

I’m constantly watching the crowd to know when they’re ready to dance and when they’d rather sit back, relax, and be entertained. That instinct comes from many years of performing and from decades of teaching, where reading the room was part of the job every day.

Comfort, Conversation, and Great Fun

You want your guests to:

  • Hear each other when they want to talk.
  • Dance when the mood strikes.
  • Leave saying, “I had a wonderful time,” even if they can’t quite put their finger on why.

I have a simple rule of thumb: if I see people leaning across a table to talk, I know the music is too loud, and I adjust. The sound should support your party, not steamroll it.

Once the music starts, it doesn’t stop. If you book me for three, four, or five hours, I play straight through, with no breaks. That steady flow of energy keeps your event feeling smooth, natural, and alive from the first guest’s arrival to the last goodbye.

What Makes Me Different as a DJ, Musician, and Entertainer

There are plenty of DJs and musicians in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, so why hire me?

  • The “Orchestra of ONE” experience: You’re not just getting a DJ pressing play; you’re getting live vocals, live horns, stories, and interaction woven into a professional DJ setup.
  • 35 years as a music teacher: Decades of teaching have given me confidence, stage presence, and the ability to read and respond to any crowd.
  • Storytelling & connection: I don’t just play at people. I talk to them, share a bit of my history, and invite them into the experience.

For example, one of my favorite moments in a show is when I bring out my clarinet – or as my late father called it, the “licorice stick.” I tell a short story about growing up in a big Polish family in Buffalo, New York, with parents who lived through the Great Depression and insisted all four sons play instruments so we’d always have a way to earn a living. Then I play the clarinet polka, and suddenly the audience knows a little bit more about who I am and why music matters so much to me.

Clients tell me things like:

  • “Your song selection was right on the money.”
  • “You were so entertaining, the evening just flew by.”
  • “You really look like you enjoy what you do.”

My honest answer is always: “How could I not enjoy this? People are paying me to do exactly what I love doing in life!”

You also never have to worry about professionalism:

  • I’m on time, every time.
  • I dress appropriately for your event – no jeans; it’s a special occasion for you, and it’s special for me too.
  • I take up a small footprint and bring everything I need; just show me my corner and I’m ready to go.

Most of my work is repeat business and referrals, which tells me people feel taken care of and truly entertained.
